Empowering entrepreunerial universities | Albania

Tracing our experience in Albania, this case study unfolds the narrative of Tirana.inc as a testament to the profound impact of tailored, collaborative programs. Witness how such initiatives not only nurture entrepreneurial ecosystems but also become catalysts for economic growth and innovation.

Unlocking universities’ innovative potential in Albania

In 2019 Preneurz was invited by  EU For Innovation to support universities in Albania on their journey to become more entrepreneurial. The mission was clear:  to establish university-affiliated incubators, thus Tirana.Inc was conceived.

Contrary to popular belief, these academic institutions are not isolated entities but catalysts for innovation and economic growth. Armed with analytical skills and social networks, universities could significantly contribute to entrepreneurial success. Preneurz aimed to tap into this potential, fostering the development of entrepreneurial skills within universities. Because universities play a pivotal role in entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Guiding Principles for Success

In formulating the program for Albanian universities, Preneurz embraced two fundamental principles, crucial for enduring success:

  • Embracing Uniqueness:  Preneurz affirms the absence of a one-size-fits-all blueprint for the 'ideal' entrepreneurship ecosystem. We believe every nation possesses unique advantages and attributes, and we want to leverage these when crafting personalized activity roadmaps.

  •  Holistic University Engagement: Understanding that universities are not isolated entities. The active participation of universities in the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem is deemed essential, underlining their role as dynamic contributors to the overall economic landscape.
